Game Review: Mario Kart

I will review the popular game, Mario Kart. (if you are thinking that there are too many reviews and not enough interviews, some interviews are coming.)

Graphics: The graphics are close to perfect. Could be slightly improved, but there is only a bit of room for improvement. The style is very nice, and I enjoyed looking at it. 9/10

Sound: The sound was really nice, as with any Mario game, contained a lot of remixed Mario music, most of which were good, but some were bad. There were also some new tunes in town, these were great! So overall, 7.5/10.

Level Design: There is (I’m pretty sure..) 35 tracks. Only 3 or 4 are bad, the rest are great! You somewhat get a new level design when you are in mirrormode. 8.5/10

Gameplay: The game is fun. The Wii Wheel is bad for this game. (I actually enjoy it for other games though.)
Wait… Did I say the game is fun? Well its fun til’ you get to the hard and mirramode difficultys. Ya, its just practiclly luck. I was in the lead, and was going to get a star rank. Then stupid koopa hits me with a BLUE SHELL. That’s what’s somewhat lacking in the gameplay: Powerups are good, but Nintendo needs to make them a bit less cheap. 6/10

So overall: 7.5/10

Website Review: Poptropica

I will review the popular MORPG, Poptropica.

Graphics: The style is quite nice, and there are very many outfits. The building and other things fit in with the characters nicely. Could be improved by being replaced with photo shop graphics.. 8.5/10

Sounds: I can’t really review this part. There isn’t any sound at all… No sound effects, no background music… Could have been worse though… There were no sounds at all.. 0/0 I guess…

Gameplay: Very fun to play, but its very easy. Players take control of their character and choose from one of 6 islands, Early Poptropica, Shark Tooth, Time Twisted, 24 Carrot, Super Power and Spy. The game is controlled nicely- you click left mouse and you move the direction your mouse is pointing (cursor is replaced with an arrow.) , if your mouse is above your character when you press it you will jump. This control is different, but I like it. Though the game is very easy, it is very fun. 8.6/10

Replay Value: The first two islands take about twenty minutes to beat each. The last four islands take about an hour and twenty minutes. So about 6 hours to beat if you play it straight. Not that great, and no reason for me to want to play the islands again. (though on their blog they say they are making two new islands.) But there is something good about the replay value. The multiplayer mode- you play against people in a bunch of minigames, trying to get your skill to go up. Its fun to do this- and doesn’t get repetitive fast. I have 3 and a half stars, it takes a while to get that high. So I give the replay value a 7.5/10

Website Review: Neopets

I will review the very, very, very, very popular site, Neopets.

Graphics: The graphics were nice. The style gave a great feel and fit in perfectly with the rest of the website. 8/10.

Sound: On neopets there are about 340 games to choose from.. Most of them have sound. Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing? Well, its both. Sometimes the music is great, but sometimes its not. Most of the time the sound effects were not good at all. Overall, 6/10

Site Design: Pretty decent design. Nice looking buttons that change colors on holidays take you to things like games and shops. Fairly easy to navigate around. 8.5/10

Gameplay: There are more than 200 games. Almost all of them are very fun, but due to the many people who actually play it, it is quite hard to make the bottom of the score list. (though I’ve done it before.) Most of the games are just right in most of the game but near impossible in the end. That’s okay, but it should be slightly easier. 8.5/10

Replay Value: As I said two times before there are way over 200 games. All take about 20 minutes to actually beat and can be played tons of times again. 10/10

Overall: A great site, as long as you leave the sound off for those annoying games this could be one of the best websites you’ve ever been to. 8.2/10

Orbiter

I found a cool program called Orbiter on the web. Orbiter is a 3d space flight simulator. You take control of a space shuttle that is very complicated, and your choice of many, many simulations. It is very fun, and will keep you busy. Screenshot: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/images/gallery72.jpg

I am going to make a review of orbiter.

Graphics: The graphics were okay. Some parts were good, some were bad. Florida is how you would see it normally in real life from above it, but nothing else was like that, making it very ugly.
I thought the space shuttle was good. 6.8/10

Level Design: There’s no need. TONS of missions. All of them are awesome, and the fact that you can download hundred more on the internet- 10/10.

Controls: Just like a real spaceship! Its pretty cool. You can control it, but its pretty hard, and takes tons of tutorial reading. Because it doesn’t have a built in tutorial, but has real spaceship-like controls, 7/10.

Gameplay: Very fun game, will entertain you for a long time. 8.2/10

Replay Value: As I said before, there is tons of missions, all are awesome. 10/10.

Overall: A great game, you should download it. 8.7/10. A very great game, and it is freeware. Will you download it or not.. Obvious, don’t you think?
