A Review of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (aka SWB2, or simply “Battlefront 2″) for PSP

21 03 2009

I think this is the first PSP review and the first review in 3 months.

Graphics: I don’t really have much to compare these graphics to, since I haven’t played many PSP games yet, but they were pretty good. A little boring textures in some parts, like in the backpack in the challenge levels. The characters were great, looked almost exactly like the characters in the movie (they didn’t look ripped or anything) and the weapons and most things had good details. 8.5/10

Gameplay: The game is fun. In a nutshell, you visit the 11 planets, one by one, trying to win it over in a conquest. Once you land on a planet you can win by defeating all the opponents or taking over the command posts (pretty much bases). There are 2 other modes; challenge (you go on special missions) and instant action. In instant action you can play conquest on any map, including a few extra maps. You also can do special modes not avaible in conquest. There are some like “hunt” where you can be hunters getting the hunted or the hunted defending from the hunters. There is CTF with one flag, and CTF with two flags. It’s pretty self explanatory. Also included is “assault” where you play as only heroes (Luke, Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, etc.) and “space assault”, something you may or may not see in conquest where you try to mess up the opponent’s huge ship by destroying life support, command towers, etc. It is very fun but my biggest compliant is the fact that the normal mode is a bit too easy while the hard mode is a bit too hard. 8.5/10

Sound: Great! All the good tracks from the movies, a few songs that might be played in the Mos Eisly (how ever you spell it) cantina, and excellent sound from blasters and saber hitting. The music is rather quite though, even when its turned all the way up and gets boring after awhile. 7.5/10

Replay Value: Conquest only takes about an hour to beat, and it gets old kinda fast. But if you play instant action, you discover all the other modes I mentioned above in gameplay. Challenge is somewhat boring, and takes less than an hour to beat. 99% of the time you will play instant action. It has multiplayer which is good though. 7.5/10

Overall
Definitely a game you should get, the total is 8/10.

Hope you enjoyed the review! More in the future.

Buga-R-U-Ready?

19 03 2009

For the Buga-R-Cade? Wanna upload some games and play others games? Go now! While supplies last. (I think?)
It’s one click away! Who’s ready?

New blog. New skin?

19 03 2009

I’m going to get a new blog called Buga-R-Cade. Don’t worry, it will not replace this one! Anyways, its pretty much showing off my games- oh, and it also shows off your games too. If you like the site, and want to post your games, than you can. You will just sign up in the sign-up post and I will consider your signup. You will have to be somewhat active and give great feedback (not “Good job” but “Good job but you need to improve on this, and this needed help too, but I really enjoyed this”) to other people’s games though.

Im experimenting with the new skins…

re: Contest 1

18 03 2009

Okay guys. Sadly, flankattack couldn’t get his website in (he didn’t have one) so here are the contest ads!
First, you can visit the awesomeness that is BKSonic’s website!
Then try out hopeless! The awesome RPG!

Gold escape… A great game.. It was such a hard decision to decide between it but in the end I decided on hopeless.

Now, your banners are coming soon and the BKSONIC page is coming soon but here’s what I thought about each game.

Hopeless: Nice job BKsonic, really cool with the cutscenes in all, must have been hard and you know what I’m going to say, its just a WIP and is too short, but I bet it’ll be a staff pick when you finish. ;)

Gold Escape: Cool! I enjoyed this game ALOT. To make it better, add a cave background, maybe subtract some of the light in the room to give it a mine-y feel ya know? And also add “easy mode”, “medium mode” and “hard mode” because I was frustrated at first till I got the hang of it. You could make this minigame into miny people’s favorites. ;) (sorry for the bad pun there :P )

Also.. I will try to post here more, I have been REALLLYYYYYY busy lately so.. Yea…. Uh.. Also, I’m going to start posting a little more about my games now, so that’ll mean more posts hopefully.

Competition 2: Much more details

2 03 2009

There’s not enough details for competition 2! Here’s it ALL.

3rd place
Your game will be on the front page and I will make you a banner.

2nd place
You will need a website if you win, it will go on the front page along with your game, and you will recieve a banner.

1st place…
Your website and game will be on the front page, you will get a banner, and a special PAGE for your game and website!

Okay, now its another competition. Its over June 15th, and the prizes are the same as they are
The theme is… Well, not really a theme. Pick one of these:
Aztecs
Incans
Mayans
And make a game on it. Also, remember to say it was made for the GMU competition!
That can’t be all can it? No… Its not that simple. It must also have one of these elements.
Time
Fire
Water
Earth

And here is the rubric
Theme: 50 points (this includes giving correct facts and being as close to real as you can get. So if you say the year was 2020 and the Aztecs were roaming around Antarctica, being the first to successfully launch a rocket there.. You lose 50 points. Keep in mind, if you don’t have an element that’s 25 off and if you don’t have a civ that’s 25 off.)
Gameplay: 30 points
Graphics: 10 points
Sound: 10 points

Now for the rules.
1. The game must be made in game maker
2. The game must be made specifically for this competition. Would it be fair if you started a game two years ago and figured you’d enter it here? No.
3. You can only make one game.
4. You can work in a team, but remember: only one website’s getting featured, and only one banner will be made. It will probably say “Winner of GMU competition Bob Joe and Job Boe”
Okay! Get started on it!
